This evening is the start for a sunset paintout at the Overland park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. It's always fun with the anticipation of starting a new event. Stems doesn't hold a candle to Augusta, but it is fun to get together with like minded people and paint. Stems has a sunset paint event tonight, and another event in a different location for a sunrise event at the end. Nothing scheduled in-between. Loosely organized for painters. Slim chances for everyone to present their work from 15 days of painting, to the public in a show. The 'powers at be' select a very few pieces for a Garden Soiree show June 22, at which they charge the artist to attend to the tune of $85 general admission! This is a manicured event and not exactly 'artist friendly'. I hope eventually they open their eyes to expanding the venue for opportunities for the artist to show their work for possible sales during the finale.
